About the service#

FairlySoon is a free sailing-weather planning service. These terms describe the permitted use and limitations of the service. Questions can be sent through Contact.

Use for planning#

Use FairlySoon as an aid to comparing possible passages. Do not use it as your primary navigation system or sole source of safety information. The Safety and limitations page explains the limits of the map, forecasts and route calculations.

Access and local storage#

FairlySoon is open to everyone without an invitation or account. You are responsible for information you submit. Your sailing plans are stored on your device; public access does not back them up or sync them between devices.

Respect the service and other people#

Do not attempt to bypass access controls, obtain another person’s information, disrupt the service or send unlawful or abusive material. Automated use must not interfere with availability for others. Contact us before relying on an integration or bulk access; FairlySoon’s endpoints are not offered here as a supported public API.

Your information and contributions#

You retain any rights you have in your own plans and material. If you send feedback, you allow us to use it to investigate issues and improve the service. Send only material you are entitled to share. The privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Data, software and intellectual property#

Third-party data and software remain subject to their own licences and notices, listed on Credits and licences. These terms do not restrict rights those licences grant you. Access to FairlySoon does not itself grant a licence to reuse FairlySoon’s own code, branding, writing or design beyond any permission expressly provided.

Availability and no warranty#

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service and its results are provided as available, without a warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular passage or uninterrupted operation. Features and data can change or stop being available. Browser storage can be lost. Keep independent records of information you need.

Responsibility and limits#

You are responsible for checking information and deciding whether and how to sail. To the extent permitted by applicable law, FairlySoon and its operator exclude liability for losses arising from reliance on forecasts or suggested routes, service interruptions or loss of locally stored data.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable. Your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Changes and questions#

We may revise these terms as the service develops and will date the revised page. Contact us if a change raises a question about your use. You may stop using the service at any time; invitation or waitlist deletion can be requested as described in the privacy policy.
